Our Story

The Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida began with one woman’s determination.

BCFCF began with a simple belief: no one fighting breast cancer in Central Florida should have to choose between paying a bill and buying groceries. Since day one, we’ve stood beside local fighters and their families, providing immediate, non-medical financial relief and a community that feels like family.

When Leah Grieger, a young mom facing breast cancer, realized there was no safety net for the everyday costs of treatment—rent, childcare, gas—she decided to build one. Out of her journey grew a foundation rooted in compassion, created so that families across Central Florida would never have to choose between fighting cancer and paying bills.

In time, another survivor’s story became intertwined with Leah’s vision. Ashley Lloyd, diagnosed at just 36, understood all too well what it meant to juggle breast cancer with motherhood, fear with faith, and survival with everyday life. Even while undergoing her own treatment, Ashley stepped into leadership—bringing her voice, heart, and lived experience to the Executive Director role. Her strength and honesty continue to shape BCFCF today, grounding every decision in the reality of what families are truly facing.

Together with a dedicated board and community partners, BCFCF has grown into a fully independent 501(c)(3). BCFCF remains the only local nonprofit focused on fast, non-medical relief—helping families with essentials like rent, transportation, and groceries.

What started with Leah’s courage and continues through Ashley’s resilience has grown into a movement: a community of survivors, supporters, and neighbors making sure no family faces the weight of breast cancer alone.
